Buy Akikaze-nishiki Painted Maple online. 'Akikaze-nishiki' is a big topic of discussion for plant collectors, as it's parentage and nomenclature fall into different groups. Many consider this tree to be a type of shantung maple, others consider it to be in the A. pictum species. Wherever it ultimately falls in classification, the green and white variegated symmetrical leaves are quite impressive! New growth can sometimes have hints of pink, and some leaves can be completely white or green, with mixes of these colors randomly appearing on the tree. It can reach large heights, sometimes exceeding the roof line, and it has a good tolerance for heat. Some scorching can still be seen when planted in full sun, so some afternoon shade is preferable.
