It features a fantastic upright growth habit with a strong central leader and excellent lateral branching. Its glossy green leaves are produced in spring and fall color is a consistent showing of multiple shades of reds. Blackgums are known to be dioecious, which means that male and female flowers are produced on separate plants, however, perfect flowers are also produced in each plant that will aid in fruit production. Multiple trees will aid in the production of fruit, and will fill the need of those looking for trees for birds and nature attraction.
