Buy Purple Pillar® Althea online. Purple Pillar® Althea is a H. syriacus with a uniquely upright habit. It is a totally unique rose of sharon: it naturally grows as a narrow column instead of a wide, spreading plant. Think of what you could do with that: anywhere you need a little privacy and/or color in a narrow space, this plant is a great choice. Like most all hibiscus, it will do best in full sun. In summer, each stem is packed along its entire length with purple blooms. This unusual columnar habit makes it a real space saver - if you thought you didn't have enough space to grow althea, 'Purple Pillar' is perfect for you. Note: Althea is considered a woody shrub or tree and will not die back to the ground in winter like hardy hibiscus.
Family: Malvaceae · Common Name: Althea / Rose of Sharon / Hardy Hibiscus

I am amazed by Sooner Plant Farm. Shipment and tree shape are the best ever. Even moreso than at my local nursery. Super impressed. Don’t hesitate to buy from them. Everything exceeded my expectations.
