Iseli® Fin Dwarf Mugo Pine is a small-statured masterpiece that delivers year-round beauty without demanding much space. Naturally developing a dense, narrow silhouette, this charming evergreen features rich green needles packed tightly along sturdy branches, creating a refined texture that stands out in every season. Its slow, sculptural growth gives the plant an artistic quality that becomes even more pronounced as it matures, making every specimen uniquely attractive. Whether nestled among boulders, featured in a conifer collection, or showcased as a focal point in a small landscape, Fin offers an elegant presence far beyond its modest size.
Discovered by Iseli Nursery field manager Curt Moody as a unique seedling of the popular Pinus mugo 'Columnaris', Fin inherited its parent's dense branching and upright habit while maturing to a much smaller, more manageable size. The playful name reflects its originsconsidered the "little fish" compared to the much larger Big Tuna Mugo Pine. Growing only an estimated 2 to 4" each year, 'Fin' remains exceptionally compact while developing remarkable character over time. Its naturally tidy habit requires virtually no pruning, allowing gardeners to simply enjoy its evolving beauty year after year.
Iseli® Fin Dwarf Mugo Pine is perfectly suited for rock gardens, alpine landscapes, foundation plantings, trough gardens, and collector conifer displays. Exceptionally cold hardy and easy to grow, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil while asking very little in return. Gardeners searching for a dwarf evergreen, compact pine, slow-growing conifer, or unique architectural accent will quickly appreciate why 'Fin' has become such a prized collector's selection. It is a small evergreen with enormous charm and lasting landscape value.
