Meet Hedgehog Mountain Pinea miniature pine so perfectly proportioned it looks sculpted rather than grown. With glossy, deep green needles packed densely into a tidy mound, this tiny wonder brings elegance and character to rock gardens and alpine plantings. Its slow growthbarely an inch per yearmeans it stays adorably compact, making it a dream for collectors and gardeners who love small plants with big style.
Originally discovered as a witch's broom mutation in the Czech Republic, 'Jezek' embodies all the charm of its mugo pine lineage but in a truly pint-sized package. Its neat, slightly flattened globe shape and orange-brown winter buds give it four-season appeal, while its early development of a thick trunk adds to its bonsai-like presence. Despite its size, this little pine is tough, thriving in sunny, exposed locations where other plants might falter.
Whether tucked into a trough, perched next to a patio, or placed proudly in a rockery, Hedgehog Mountain Pine makes a refined statement. With well-drained soil and full sun, it remains healthy, dense, and vibrant. A plant this small shouldn't be this strikingbut that's part of its magic.
