Gold 'n Sapphires Lithodora is all about high contrast and year-round appeal. Low-growing and evergreen, it forms a dense, spreading mat of golden foliage that stays vibrant all summer long. The bright leaves alone make this plant a standout, but when spring arrives, the real show begins. In late spring to early summer, intensely blue, star-shaped flowers appear at the tips of the stems, creating a dramatic sapphire-on-gold display that stops people in their tracks. The flower color is among the truest blues in the garden, offering a richness rarely matched by other groundcovers. When planted in groups or allowed to flow naturally along edges, the effect is bold, polished, and unforgettable. Surprisingly sun tolerant and drought resistant once established, Gold 'n Sapphires Lithodora excels in well-drained soils where many plants struggle. It's ideal for banks, between stepping stones, spilling over walls, or anchoring the front of borders. Vigorous without being invasive, this is a refined groundcover that rewards proper placement with outstanding performance.
