• The Shadow Dragon's Egg: FYRE WING™ 'Jet' is one of the original seven varieties in the FYRE WING™ collection, whose colors and characters were inspired by dragons and the gemstones traditionally associated with their legendary treasure hoards. Its black-and-silver foliage gives this particular member a decidedly mysterious place among the seven.
• A Mutation Worth Keeping: The FYRE WING™ story began with an unusual mutation discovered in a coral bells breeding program. Rather than discarding the strange, deeply divided foliage, breeders grew it out and recognized the possibility of an entirely new leaf form, eventually leading to the lace-like foliage that defines the series.
• Silver Scales Without the Armor: The shimmering appearance of 'Jet' comes from fine hairs covering its dark foliage. Those tiny hairs catch and reflect light, producing the silvery, almost metallic effect that makes the leaves look less like ordinary foliage and more like miniature dragon scales.
• Too Bitter for a Dragon's Dinner: Coral bells foliage contains tannins that make it generally unappealing to deer and rabbits. So while a fantasy dragon might happily guard a treasure hoard of 'Jet', real garden browsers are usually less enthusiastic about dining on its dark leaves.
